This place was awesome for Archery! My husband and I had never shot archery before and everyone was super welcoming, helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back and would recommend this place for beginners who want to learn to shoot.

Toby definitely made our experience exceptional! He was extremely patient and helpful – he took the time to teach us how to shoot and gave us tips throughout.

SYWAT INDOOR

This is a statewide “league” held primarily during the winter (November – February). Any archer can compete in the event, but you must be a NFAA/TFAA Member to compete for the SYWAT Aggregate/Tour Champion award. N.F.A.A. divisions and shooting styles will be in effect.

Costs Per Round:
$25 – Adult Categories
$20 – Cub/Youth/Young Adult
$70 – Max. Per Family

The indoor SYWAT format is the NFAA standard “300 Round,” shot at 10 yards for cubs and 20 yards for all other age classes.

Archers shoot 12 ends of 5 arrows each for a total of 60 arrows.

Targets are rotated between top and bottom after the 6th end.

Targets are the archer’s choice of the NFAA 40 cm (blue) single spot, or the NFAA 5 spot.

Scoring on the 40 cm target is 5-4-3-2-1. Xs score 5, but are counted as a tiebreaker.

The 5 spot target is scored 5-4. Xs score as 5, but are counted as a tiebreaker.

STARS Shootout Archery League

Wednesday at 5:30 PM

Are you looking for a fun way to practice with your bow, make new friends and enjoy some laid back competition? The Saddle River Range STARS Shootout Archery League

is the place to be.

STARS is an archery shoot formatted like Rodeo Team Roping.  Each shooter shoots a qualifier round (quick/simple) to establish a “rank.” You can come by anytime and shoot your qualifier or do it Wednesday nights. Once ranked, the shooter can enter the “event.” Each event will be a blind draw for teams and has a maximum team rank of 20. When teams are drawn, their “ranks” are added together and subtracted from 20 (event max). The difference is their team handicap. All teams shoot the quick and challenging 10 shot round. Scores are totaled, handicaps added. Teams are paid off from the “pot money” and we start registration for the next event and do it again!

It’s fun, exciting, and fast paced!

The best part about this format is that EVERYBODY has a chance to win some cash!  It doesn’t matter if you are shooting traditional with a home-made longbow or if you are running all the fancy bells and whistles! The more variety, the better!

By the end of the night we have complete strangers cheering for each other!

Archery Faqs & Rules

Archery FAQ & Rules

Only Members may reserve shooting lanes. We cannot reserve lanes for non-members or guests of members. Each member may reserve only one lane, however, if space is available we are happy to issue separate lanes at the time of check in. Lane reservations will be held for 15 minutes but the hour time limit (if applicable) will begin at the time of the reservation. If the reservation is not filled within that time frame, it will be released. Reserving specific lanes or adjacent lanes is a request we will accommodate when possible – however it is not guaranteed. Reservations are subject to availability based on membership level and are on a first come first serve basis.
No. There is no time limit on the range. However if the range is full, it will be up to the SRR staff whether a time limit will be set. This will only be necessary if capacity dictates multiple lines of shooters.
No. You can rent equipment anytime you want to shoot. We will have basic recurve set-ups available for you whether you are trying archery for the first time or you are out for a family fun night.
Yes, while we do provide a target with every range, you are welcome to bring your own targets as long as they are made out of paper and are tastefully depicted. No targets depicting political figures, specific people, etc. will be allowed. The Range Officers reserve the right to prohibit targets that are deemed to be offensive or unsafe and will insure that the appropriately sized target is placed at eye level.
We want all of our guests to dress comfortably, but any clothing that creates a hazard or dangerous distraction or causes offense to other guests and/or staff is strictly prohibited at Saddle River Range. This includes baggy pants and clothing with offensive writing or images. Tennis shoes or other close-toed shoes are recommended on the shooting range. We reserve the right to refuse business to anyone dressed in a manner deemed inappropriate by the staff.
Yes. Archery is a family sport. Children of all ages are allowed on the range with adult supervision as long as they can safely handle the equipment. If the child proves to have exceptional maturity and respect for the rules of the range, arrangements will be made for them to shoot unsupervised. This is behavior driven regardless of age.
Archery is a very safe sport. You must remember that the bow and arrow is one of the oldest weapons in history and like all weapons it can be dangerous if used incorrectly. We have strict safety rules posted on the range and when followed correctly, archery is as safe as any other activity.
Yes. Crossbows will be allowed on the range. There will be crossbow specific targets available. Also, there are specific safety rules relating to crossbows that will be posted and need to be strictly adhered to for range safety.
Yes. Broad Head targets will be available. There will be an additional charge to shoot broad heads and practice heads, due to the excessive wear they incur on the targets. Please make arrangements prior to shooting broad heads so range staff can address any safety concerns prior to your shooting.
Everyone that has ever shot a bow had this happen. Your right it hurts! This is caused by a technique problem that we can help you with, but just in case, all rental packages will include and an arm guard.
Yes. Instruction will be available for all experience levels. Lessons will be scheduled by instructor availability. A schedule of available instructor hours will be available at the range. You can call the Archery Range or make arrangements in person. Lessons will be charged on an hourly rate. You will still be responsible for any range fees and equipment rental fees at the time of the lesson.
For safety reasons we only allow photography or video recording by guests on a case by case basis. If you would like a photo/video please ask one of the SRR staff for assistance.
Yes. If you do not have any underlying medical reasons that preclude you from this type of activity and as long as the conditions of your term does not interfere with proper technique.
